This collection contains seven films and the long documentary done after his “accidental” post-surgical death in a New York hospital. Fascinating to rediscover “Trash”, “Heat” and “Flesh” that really represented the late sixties and early seventies, the direct post-hippy years. “Madame Wang’s” is a transient caprice in Morrissey’s mind. “Women in revolt” is ironical when you see most of these women activists were transvestites and transsexuals. “Flesh for Frankenstein” has aged tremendously. “Blood for Dracula” is funny with the blood poisoning of Dracula who can only digest virginal blood, I mean the blood of a virgin. Luckily the collection contains “The Complete picture”. In this documentary, alas, the “intellectuals” and “art critics” are trendy institutionalized university artistic academics for many of them and impose their discourse (a big word for Danto) or rather their fashionable ranting and raving. No, Andy Warhol is not that trashy mass production fake artist they enjoy describing. He is a lot more complex and probably a lot more innovative than they pretend. For one he is dyslexic and that fact is neglected by many though it dictates the form of his art. In his shakily (at least) lateralized world Andy Warhol looks for stabilizing elements and his whole life is governed by that search and even chase. Equilibrium in gayness though his discomfort is in love itself. Equilibrium in his public image that has so little to do with his deep personality whose shyness he protects with this artificial surface, a carapace. Equilibrium in the repetitiveness if not repetitive obsession of his art along with the variations from one picture to the next, from one copy to the next. A slight change in color, or a slight change in light, or a slight change in form. Campbell’s soup is always Campbell’s soup, but with so many flavors and tastes. Equilibrium in the fixed and unmoving camera of his own films, in the steady speed and everlasting duration of the tapes of his tape recorder, or the never thrown away trash-collecting that has become over the decades the valuable pollen gathering of the bee Andy Warhol. But who is the real Warhol in this evanescent and calculated surface of things? There is no return to reality as Danto pretends. It is the covering of a deep fear with a superficial reality looking drape on top of it. Is it a hearse for his deep reality? His form of mechanical mass production is nothing but his own theatricality of his own disappearance through which he removed himself from reality, from the public eye that could only see the image he condescended to make public, the defused image of his own self in a defusing world. Sorry to disagree but he is a pushy type of man who wants everyone to know he is around but he is around as a ghost, the presence you may feel being only some kind of scarecrow that is covered with honey to attract the bees and flies the audience is, and soaked with wine and cocaine to attract winos and druggies. Just as he did not steal the S.C.U.M. concept of Valerie Solanas, her shooting him proved that she was scum, but not from the Society for Cutting Up Men, just scum, like spam, what you have to discard and dispose of in some trashcan and she is only surviving as the attempted assassin of Andy Warhol, and that is already too much for her. And he thus started as a commercial artist who turned himself into a business artist very soon because for him, the anti-hippy hero, making money is art, working is art and good business is the best of arts. It seems simple to understand that his diversifying and commodifying himself is a way to build a non-dyslexic surface for his deeply dyslexic reality. The point is that no one seems to have really seen that fact because everyone tried to forget this dyslexia of his in the name of his being a genius and a great artist, not seeing that his genius and greatness were his answer to his own dyslexia. In other words he is a genuine fake and that genuine-ness is his genius. But a fake he is for sure and that is his great art. We can only imagine what he could have been if he had reached the time of the Internet. Gosh, he would have been godlike. Let him conclude with: “I have no memory. Everyday is a new day because I don’t remember the day before. Every minute is like the first minute of my life. I try to remember but I can’t. That’s why I got married to my tape recorder. My mind is like a tape-recorder with one button: erase.” Even his discourse, his sentence structure is the best defense against dyslexia: subject + verb + complement, and that’s about all with a few simple conjunctive appositions in “because” and “but”. If you the audience proceed one step at a time, you may not entangle your pushy speedy and amateurish feet in the carpet and fall down the staircase right into the buffet of the artist you will never understand. So let’s get together and you alone eventually at any time on a trip with that poor man who died drowned in his own water in his lungs in a New York hospital under a fake name during the night because of a lack of care and probably caring personnel, hence abandoned in this health-uncare institution. We can only imagine what he could be doing today in our entirely virtual world. Probably Campbell’s Soups again but with a whole lot different can of worms. Just as we discovered after his death the biggest collection of Christian art comprising innumerable variations on Leonardo Da Vinci’s “Last Supper”. That is probably the most significant heritage and inheritance from that man.

That’s a LOT of Munsters!

Great Value!

This is a hard product to review. I love “The Munsters” and cannot say anything bad about the episodes. I have to give this 5-stars for the content: Everything that was on the previous releases – plus the fact that Universal FINALLY put all of this on single-sided discs. But, I have to take points off for Universal NOT fixing problems with the original releases: The discs are exactly the same – menus, content, and “problems”!

The first season episodes should have been spread out more – disc 6 (originally disc 3B) only has four episodes – the others have six or seven. The colorized version of “Family Portrait” has been added to disc 2 (originally 1B). Be warned! It is not perfect. I originally watched this episode on my TV in the living room and it was awful. It looked as if it was one of the first colorization tests. But I re-watched on my bedroom TV and it was a lot better. I guess it all depends on your TV’s settings. The Munsters and their house are actually done well and look as if filmed in color. The problem is with the “human” characters. Their skin tones are off and it looks fakey. If only other studios could do the excellent and realistic job that Paramount did with the “Lucy Goes to Scotland” episode of “I Love Lucy.” But it is a pretty good attempt at colorization. It was a treat to see what it might have looked like if filmed in color, but I prefer the look and feel of the B&W version.

The second season episodes still have the crappy Universal logo and music before EVERY episode. And there is no way to skip it. I was praying that the studio would remove this (also, it isn’t seen with the first season episodes).

So, 5-stars for putting everything in one package, the episodes themselves, single-sided discs, and the bonus features (including the colorized episode). But I drop the rating to 3-stars for not spreading out the first season episodes, the low sound on a couple of first season episodes that should have been corrected, and the Universal logo w/music before every single second season episode with no way to bypass it. Universal made a good attempt but fumbled by not making all the necessary corrections. But I am still VERY happy to have one of my favorite shows on DVD.

Oh, the single box contains two digi-packs. The first one is Season One with six discs. The second one is Season Two with six discs (four are the episodes, one is the bonus biographies, one is the two movies). Each has the disc breakdowns and the discs overlap – two per page.

Now you make the decision on whether to buy this. If you already own the Season Sets and don’t mind the 2-sided discs and have the separate two-movie disc, then I wouldn’t buy this. There is nothing different except the colorized episode – which is now available separately. If you would prefer single-sided discs and want everything (which includes the two-movie disc) in one package, than this product is for you. I hope this helps you decide.

I watched this DVD today and laughed as much or more as the first time I saw this show on Adult Swim. This DVD has a number of features to recommend it:

- Terrific presentation of the original show. It even sounds as though the music to dialogue level has been adjusted on the “Empire On Ice” sketch so that the hilarious lyrics to the songs are much more audible and clear than they were when originally shown on TV.

At less than $10, this DVD is absolutely worth it. A great entertainment value for the price. Even the blurbs on the back of the DVD case are entertaining.

I believe all the Lone Wolf & Cub movies are titanic, but this is definitely the best one in my book. All the films in the series managed to combine a strong period feel, and a sort of attractive and solemn beauty with the infamous and intellectual action scenes, but this one really manages to bring out the conventional without losing touch with the latter. To save it bluntly, this is one of the very best action movies I’ve ever seen, Asian or otherwise.

I won’t bother going into the dwelling. It doesn’t matter considerable. Suffice to say, Ogami has been given another contract, and he must end a tremendous many people along the diagram in order to fabricate his final hit. (as usual) All of the LW&C movies had westerny feel to them, but this one is totally a Leone film area in feudal Japan. The cinematography in the series has always been kindly, but ‘Babycart in the Land of Demons’ easily tops any of the other entries. They obtain rotund utilize of the widescreen format, almost never shooting anything in a perfunctory fashion, with lots of blooming long shots, varied angles and modern framing. This makes the whole film have a sort of poetic grandiosity which I really like. The natural scenery isn’t quite as striking as in some of the other films, but it’s serene quite nice, and the extra anxiety that was set into filming it more than makes up for this cramped shortcoming. The earlier part of the film contains a stout many one-on-one duels, further enhancing the Leone-esque feel, and they are all quite nicely done, if brief. (as you’d ask) The fight choreography is more consitently qualified than in most of the other films, though it isn’t quite as action oriented as some of the other entries. This isn’t to say it has the very best action scenes, but they are all advantageous. The tall fight at the waste, while certainly not as substantial as some of the others in the series, is quite splendid, and is a very fitting climax to the film. The grue is quite intriguing unexcited, but not found in quite as sizable of volume as it was in some of the other films. However, I actually deem this is a gracious thing, as the gore, while laughable in and of itself, can detract from the mood of the film sometimes.

Ogami and Daigoro are as compelling and likable as ever. Ogami Itto is an action hero equal to any you’ll win in the genre. The taciturn, incredibly skilled and violent yet pleasant man with no past is a typical action hero, but Wakayama Tomisaburo plays him as well as you could hope. Though I generally abhor children in movie’s, I can’t assist but cherish minute Daigoro. He’s a very cute kid, for positive, but he’s also a precise character. Determined, he’s not a remotely believable character, but I’m more than willing to suspend my disbelief. The acting is generally quite suitable. The guy who plays Lord Retsudo is mighty better than he was in the first film, which was the only steady pickle in the whole series. Quiet, his gape is a bit distracting, as his eye-patch, powdered face and wild hair accomplish him stare rather like a Japanese zombie-pirate. Of course, that’s not really mighty of a dilemma. Thematically, self-sacrifice is an extremely prominent notion, and it can be quite affecting at times. (Particularly the brief subplot interesting Daigoro and a pickpocket)

In his B-Movie guide, Joe Bob Briggs says, of the LW&C series, something like, ‘famed for it’s geysers of blood, but also stunning and moving’ That sums it all up sparkling well, I contemplate, and is particularly applicable to ‘Baby Cart in the Land of Demons’. Mandatory viewing for any action fan.(The whole series is, really, though it doesn’t execute grand disagreement what order you go in, provided you know the basic setup)

This is the 5th Entry in the Series of Lone Wolf & Cub, and this one starts off with 5 emmissaries testing our hero, mature Shogun Executioner, Ogami Itto. Of course 5 emmissaries testing Ogami, means 5 duels, 5 sliced up and slow emmissaries, 500 pieces of gold and the 5 bits of information Itto needs to do the job.

These 5 gave up their lives for their Clan which is in grief because the Lord of the Clan favors his concubine and is passing off her DAUGHTER as his son. A major no-no. Especially since he HAS a living son. This information has been written down and given by the Lord to a trusted holy man, the Abbott Jikei, who turns out to be a sight in cahoots with the Yagyu Clan, Ogami’s sworn enemies.

So Ogami sets out to restore order to the Clan by: killing the Abbott & stealing the document (nice bit that!), and later killing half the clan to derive to the Lord and doing him, his concubine and the child. Of course, Ogami manages all this with his trademark ferocity & remorseless implacability. Our filmakers do not neglect the arterial blood sprays and lopped extremities here and there, and other traits of swordfighting messiness we’ve near to demand.

There is a sidestory about a pickpocket “Rapid Change Oyoo” that serves no purpose other than to have Ogami’s limited son, Daigoro, pick a flogging with the same stoicism of his passe man.

Anyway, plenty of stylish photography, lots of spurting blood, and an authentic spy as to period detail, and a grim observe at the rigorous code of conduct in that period. The Liner Notes and Subtitles attend a lot. Man, these people believed in their Clans!

I remember watching Tales From the Crypt when I was younger, and decided to obtain the whole 7 seasons. Some seasons seem a whole lot better than others but overall it is a grand hold and will hold you entertained for a long time!

I researched the reviews from the other video fireplace DVDs and decided to grasp a chance on this DVD that was not reviewed at the time. My gamble payed off and here are the features of this DVD:

There are 3 chapters that are 30 min each: colonial fireplace, campfire, and beach bonfire. When you play a chapter, it’s automatically position to expose.

All fires launch off fully lit; there are no “striking matches” scenes and there is no fire buildup or watching the fire go out. This is literally the case of someone building a fire, letting it effect up, and then filming the fire for 30 minutes.

There is no panning or zooming! The camera stays focused on the fire and nothing else. In the Colonial Fireplace, the camera is focused on what is inside the firebox. There are no mantle details shown.

There is no music whatsoever – the only sounds near from the popping embers (except for the beach bonfire in which you can also hear the ocean) .

The video is not of hollywood quality, but it’s great video. The DVD says it archaic “broadcast quality” video equipment. I guess so. It’s watchable, sure, no bleeding colors, and the flames are detailed – they’re not bled out and fuzzy.

I give only 4 stars because it would be nice to toggle on/off some ambient music, but as far as video fireplaces – this DVD is exactly as advertised: a video fireplace.

I have a 51 lunge rear projection HDTV with a progressive scan DVD player using component wires. The recount quality could not be any better. I researched all of the Fireplace DVDs available and I took a chance with this one. I am extremely delighted with the quality and choice of scenes. When I throw a party, I regain that being able to walk between 3 different fire scenes is worthy better than glancing over and seeing a substantial blank conceal. If you’re looking for something to throw on the TV while you have people over, then recall up this DVD, you won’t be disappointed.

Anyone expecting a really excellent notion of the Punic Wars in Italy will certainly not get it here. That being said, there are a number of engaging and comic scenes that accomplish it half-way worthwhile. Victor Weak sleeps his procedure through the role of the tremendous Carthegenian general. Passe seems never to have taken his believe acting skills that seriously, and that is evident here with his lethargic style.

Probably one of the best parts of the film is the extended scene showing the crossing of the Alps. This was surely one of the astronomical feats of conventional warfare and we bag a decent view at how tortuous it must have been here. The Punic soldiers crying out in English somehow lacks something, but this was a 1960 Italian dubbed film! Some of the battle scenes with the elephants are not too awful, but the overall do is on the awful side. The most vigorous battle shown, Cannae in 217 BC is a joke! There is some attempt to indicate how the Romans were destroyed here, but somehow it gets lost in the details.

I give the film some credit for staying somewhere advance the history, but many details are wide off the effect, and almost purposely so. The romance with Used and Rita Gam is required of course for this period of movie, but it seems half-hearted at best. Again, Mature’s Hannibal seems to almost doze through the scenes! No doubt Hannibal did console himself with a few Roman women for the many years he was in Italy, but what we obtain here is standard hollywood filler for the time. This film might be fun to peer along with the Italian Propaganada chronicle, Scipio Africanus. Both have the same lame style, although the older facist film has the production value which this film really lacks. Mild, both originate for some light viewing in the classic sword and sandal style.

A very contrived rendition of the Second Punic War between Carthage and Rome in the 3rd century B.C. The fact that Victor Worn plays the lead role is enough to discourage anyone from buying this shallow film. This film is also outmatched in every respect except color by another production and so not really worth one’s time or money unless you’re a die-hard Aged fanor obtain only the color medium for a film.

The screenplay is disjointed as it doesn’t really verbalize the reasons why Hannibal hated Rome so distinguished or why he led an army of almost 100,000 men to trample over the Italian countryside for 18 years. The battle reenactments are itsy-bitsy, sparing, and second-rate. The acting stinks especially by Ragged whose presence always appears as if he unprejudiced came out of a cocktail lounge around 3:00 a.m. Victor Musty was barely competent as a back-up actor not to bellow of a lead role in a historical legend. Even more shame on the Italians who contrived this humorous film about their contain history. The direction is purely used for the period and so dreary. The screenplay is awful and focuses on a ridiculous worship yarn instead of the historical events for dramatism. History here is simply the backdrop for the romance. The anachronisms of the film themselves would require original anachronisms to clarify as this film is horribly out-of-date. Wayne’s ‘Genghis Kahn’ is better than this film. At least you have The Duke instead of ‘Manure’ to stare in a poor film.

A vastly agreeable film on Hannibal is Carmine Gallone’s 1939 ‘Scipio Africanus’ that looks at the conflict from the character Scipio’s point of notion in which the climax comes with Hannibal’s defeat at Zama. Unlike this film, ‘Scipio’ primarily emphasizes on the history for the drama as opposed to romance. Although the few romantic scenes in ‘Scipio’ are truly arch-melodrama as one reviewer has commented, they are fortunately fewer than in this film. The character of Hannibal is treated as a tragic hero and gracious foe who, like his Roman antagonist and unlike Mature’s character, doesn’t kill powerful time on trivial romance when the life or death of his nation is at stake. Although not in color, at least ‘Scipio’ was done on an narrative scale with 50 elephants, over a thousand horses, and 30,0000 extras under the direction of a competent Gallone. The battle scene for Zama was more a replication rather than a re-enactment and so exceptionally brutal even by some of today’s standards. I guarantee you that few professional stuntmen of today would be doing what ordinary guys did in that reenactment. So lavish are the sets and battles that they remained unmatched in film until no sooner than Kubrick’s ‘Spartacus’ or Mankiewick’s ‘Cleopatra’ 25 years later. Despite the film’s occasional overdrama, acquire me, you will rep a lot more accuracy, lavishness, and a breathtaking battle scene from that film on Hannibal. This one with Old-fashioned isn’t even worth seeing free as it is unprejudiced a demolish of time.

The days of paying an arm and a leg for G1 Transformers episodes are over. Yowl! Factory, LLC, in conjunction with Hasbro, has released the complete first season of Transformers: The Current Series, and it’s a apt product! It’s also at a splendid notice, which those who have paid extremely high prices for earlier releases (such as myself) are clear to enjoy.

Packaging: 4 out of 5

It would have been nice if the packaging received the royal treatment that the novel He-Man and She-Ra cartoons received; however this is not so dreadful. Natty, unique artwork printed on a metallic coating gives the box a highly sparkling and recent look; the discs are safely encased in two slim DVD cases (made of soft, shatter-resistant polypropylene), each of which boasts 2-sided artwork visible through the sleeves and the translucent packaging.

Integrity To The Unusual Episodes: 5 out of 5.

These are the episodes the plot I remember seeing them; on VHS tape from my local video store, with a high level of faithfulness to the recent sound and visuals. Those familiar with the Rhino releases earlier this decade may be cheerful to hear that the *original* soundtrack is presented here (remixed in stereo) without any additional sound effects. Care has also been taken to reconstruct the show’s visuals; “Heavy Metal War” in particular has been restored to its current greatness, after a painful stint on the Rhino collection, on which the episode was marred by poorly-chosen takes replate with visual errors.

Episode quality and encoding: 4 out of 5.

Each DVD is 7.6 GB in size, and every byte appears to be taken in a high-quality encode of these episodes. Bit rate (a strong determinant of quality on standard DVD) varies from around 4800kbps to unprejudiced over 6000 kbps during playback. The encoding is not perfect; an observant recognize will gawk compression artifacts exhibit up often on backgrounds and matte paintings; thankfully, characters and appealing scenes reveal up with about as worthy clarity as the transfer probably allowed.

Special features: 3 out of 5 stars

The extras are fully contained on disc 3 of this collection, which I like because it leaves critical state on the other two discs for high-quality episode encoding. However, the features reach up a bit short in my belief. Though the 20-minute documentary is all-new, it is not as thorough as I hoped it would be or as the packaging suggests. Also this documentary lacked any contribution from the unique speak actors, whose involvement strikes me as important for a five-star special features disc. A printable copy of the “Transport To Oblivion” script (also available on the aging Rhino relase), three Hasbro toy commercials and one PSA (Public Service Announcement) perform up the reminder of this light special features piece. Hopefully Wail! Factory will continue to release the new series on DVD, in which case there are huge opportunities for further special features.

All in all, this is a titanic product at a expansive stamp, and bears the closest resemblance to the new broadcast episodes I have seen thus far. Looking forward to future relases, possibly someday on Blu-Ray.

The animation may not have been the best on this series but in the eighties it’s all we needed and our active imaginations filled in the rest. Despite the older less impressive animation these episodes are mild classics to those who remember them and will be more delicious for most of us than the many spinoffs that followed the G1 series. There was something innocent about the series here, maybe because it was so early before the fact that each episode was really honest a half hour commercial became favorite knowledge, maybe because here they actually looked like robots in disguise, but maybe unprejudiced because they are the ones most of us grew up on and where the whole lasting franchise found it’s niche.

Fans should be very enraged to believe these episodes in a fresh more affordable space. The site is being build out by Yell! Factory and they have always done an satisfactory job of providing fans with a lot of well done special features on long awaited sets. This position was originally announced as having a few special features included with more possibly in the works but I’m very gay to gawk the amount that they have now announced for it and have updated this review to include them. Alot of people who didn’t choose the more expensive unique sets are going to be angry at the chance to glean this one and I know that I can’t wait. I originally gave this station 5 stars fair for the opportunity to occupy these classic episodes in a suited DVD state, but after hearing that they will in fact be restored to recent broadcast versions with a fresh stereo soundtrack created from the novel audio I’m more exasperated than ever.

Some may say that this series was unbiased the next step in a grand advertising campaign for children’s toys but those of us who grew up being entertained by it know that there truly is more to this series than meets the see. Thanks For Your Time.

*It now appears that Scream! will also be releasing Transformer’s G1 in a complete series status this summer. While I mediate this first season space is peaceful colossal for some I personally am more mad for the complete series.

I remember “The Sword in the Stone” as a widescreen movie, so I was dismayed to win that Disney had released this curious celebrated to DVD in a cropped/pan-and-scan format. However, on further investigation, I discovered that, to my surprise, “The Sword in the Stone” was not a widescreen motion describe… at least not originally. Apparently, like “101 Dalmations” and other films of the unhurried 1950s and early 1960s, “The Sword in the Stone” was made to be projected in one of two formats: either widescreen or full-frame, depending on the theater where it was shown. It seems that the Disney animators designed the film with a bit of ‘extra picture’ at the top and bottom of each frame; that procedure this ‘extra’ could be reduce off without ruining the image in theaters playing it in widescreen. In other theaters, and on television, the film could be shown in a standard full-frame (1.33:1) format. So, according to Disney, the recent full-frame DVD of “TSITS” is indeed the film in it’s “novel format’. Admittedly, it may not be the blueprint that most of us remember this enormous slight movie, but it is the arrangement the folks at Disney made it.

Sometime in the medieval ages, there is a myth about this magic stone that contains a sword and according to the yarn, who so pulls out the sword from the anvil shall become king of all England. Though many tried to pull it, no miracle and the sword was forgotten for ages in an age of no laws, brutality and darkness in honest which magician Merlin has danger with the days of no kings, he then meets a young squire named “Wart” ( a.k.a. Arthur) whom is a problemic young man with a mean foster father and expansive foster brother, Merlin then trains Wart through education in order to become more social and on adventures that will lead him to pull the sword out of the stone.

An underrated disney classic that is a enjoyable account with estimable animation for it’s time, nice songs like “Higitus Figitus” and humor makes this a positive must have for the animation DVD collector everywhere.

The Ten Commandments with Elliot Gould is an estimable claymation movie for the whole family. the characterizations, the acting, the cinematography is well done and first rate. relive the myth of moshe ha navee (the prophet) and the ample miracles that Yahweh (blessed be his name forever) did through his prophet. i thoroughly enjoyed this film. we need more movies like this in hollywood. every jewish person and christian should assist this film and what better scheme than to purchase the film. what is distinguished about this film is that bible movies can construct a incompatibility not only in people’s lives but can also yell hollywood there is an alternative to their disgusting graphic movies that have very litle ie no proper values what so ever. i know people will criticize this film and give very few stars for a rating. iam not a critic of any movie that shows decency, legal values, and is based on the bible even though there is fiction in the film. Val Kilmer, Elliot Gould, and the rest of the cast did a graceful performance.
